Help my mom find chairs!

My mother is making over her living room. She’s going from ‘fancy living room’ to functionally elegant room. Think of a room for card games, ladies laughing, and ice-tea sipping. Today’s home is not fancy, it’s livable. It’s comfortable. And my mom’s taste is classic.

So, taking a page from the beautiful designs of Beth Rubino from the movie, “It’s Complicated,” my mom is on the hunt for four chairs. So, let’s help my mom find chairs!

Here’s are some pictures for inspiration:

See the feet of the chairs:

And, just for me, here’s the kitchen table and chairs that I adore:

Beth Rubino knows her stuff. Any suggestions on chairs, oh blog world?

List of Things – Item #5: Anne Klein’s Belted Dress

Blue is one of my favorite colors. I have four or five blue dresses hanging in my closet right now. Some are casual (to wear to the grocery store), some are for work, and some are the type you’d wear to functions (Junior League or day-time networking events).

Even though I have a few, I can still justify this dress. The styling and deep color of this one is a beauty unto itself. The fact that it’s a solid color just adds to the flattering details of this dress. I don’t ‘need’ it, but I do want it.

Anne Klein’s Belted Dress

Anne Klein knows how to make a flattering dress. Available from Nordstrom’s, on sale for $85.90. I’m a heartbeat away from buying this. But, I have a few blue dresses already, so I’ll save my money.

List of Things – Item #4: Anthropologie’s Astrid Chair, Naive Tropical

A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Especially when it’s comfy and cool too. Can’t you picture this chair in the corner of your favorite room? Or as a decorator’s office chair?

But for $1,298, I think I can find something else to perch on. Still, I can marvel. The curves of this chair and the pop of color are what make it sing. Can you hear it? I think it says, “buy me.” Not yet, little chair. Must win lottery first.

Maybe I can find a chair to reupholster in simlilar fabric? Craigslist stalking time.

List of Things – Item #3: Ballard Design’s Suvero Rug

Continuing on with virtual buying, I have found item #3. This would be the perfect rug for my kitchen floor (with a pad underneath, of course!). The subtle yellow would pick up the yellow dishes I have, and the blues remind me of the beach. A relaxing thought in my crazy kitchen!

The 4′x6′ is just the right size. But I think I’ll save the $139 plus shipping. What do you think of it?

What have you been wanting to buy?

List of Things – Item #2: DVF flats

DVF: Diane Von Furstenberg. Love this lady. She knows what women want to wear. Wrap dresses. Pretty shoes. I could go on.

I saw this pair of flats on a site that promises discounts on designer items. It times your shopping so that you feel compelled to buy. I actually did acidentally buy, only to quickly cancel.

Diane Von Furstenberg Natlia Flats

Discounted from $250 to $109. If I could figure out a way to wear the flats at the office, they’d be in my shopping cart and soon on my tootsies. The color is stunning, and the texture makes the flats interesting but not flashy.

List of Things – Items #1: Pottery Barn Mendocino Bed

We’re still in a recession. Err… Because funds are limited, my friend J has inspired me to create a list. Instead of spending money on clothes, J likes to online shop and send suggestions to friends for their purchases. Great idea!

Inspired, I have started a list of things — things I would buy if I had unlimited funds. Things I just love.

Here’s the first thing I’m drooling over (and it’s not Don Draper):

The Pottery Barn Mendocino Bed

This thing is gorgeous! I love how it shows off the beautiful duvet. Love, love, love it. But, don’t need it. Missed out on a Craigslist, half price version. But, still, don’t need it.

Happy 4th of July!

This July 4th weekend, I whipped up my signature blueberry cobbler, with a patriotic twist, for a bbq. It was yummmmy.

Hope you too had a wonderful 4th!
